Sophie Buckle
Psychotherapist and Mental Health Social Worker
MSW, MMHSc (Child Psychotherapy)
Sophie understands that the experiences of matrescence and patrescence can bring profound emotional and relational changes that can be difficult to navigate and make sense of. She believes that during this vulnerable and transformative time, parents deserve to feel nurtured, understood and supported as they find their own way through the transition to parenthood.
Sophie is a Mental Health Social Worker and psychotherapist with extensive experience across both the public and private sectors.
Sophie has worked in senior therapeutic specialist roles supporting infants, children and parents, with a particular focus on early relationships, child development and family wellbeing. Her clinical experience includes infant observation, clinical assessment, parent work and individual therapy.
Sophie has undertaken clinical training with the Child Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Association, developing a deeper understanding of children's emotional worlds, relationships and development. She brings this depth of understanding to her work with both children and parents.
Sophie is particularly passionate about supporting mothers and families during the perinatal period and early years of parenting. She offers a warm, thoughtful and relational space where parents can explore their experiences, relationships and the challenges of family life.
Sophie holds a Master of Social Work from La Trobe University and a Master of Mental Health Science and Child Psychotherapy from Monash University. She is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy. Sophie is also undertaking individual training in Gottman’s Bringing Baby Home program, complementing her work with parents, infants and families during the early years.
